HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL
BETTY GO BELMONTE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL was formerly known as TIONGSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, an annex of Aurora A. Quezon Elementary School. It was located at Cordillera St, the school was housed in a rented building. It became an independent school in 1962 - 1963 and the principal then was Mrs. Vicente Marquez and the District Supervisor was Mr. Tiburcio Morales. on October 1, 1972,the school was transferred to its present and permanent site in the heart of Araneta subdivision along Bayani St. beside the Doña Imelda Barangay Hall, a newly - created barangay at that time.
The barangay and the school was named after one of the Araneta's ladies, Doña Imelda, who donated the school and the barangay site which is almost 5000m2. The area was rugged and swampy. Through a resolution approved by the City Council, Tiongson Elementary School was renamed Bo. Imelda Elementary School in honor of Doña Imelda.
The school started with a nine (9) rooms Marcos Pre - Fab Building with Miss Conception Diaz as the principal.
Today, the name of the school is BETTY GO BELMONTE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL by virtue of City Ordinance No. SP-216, S-94, enacted by the Quezon City Council on its 150th Regular Session in honor of Mrs. Betty Go Belmonte, the wife of Congressman Feliciano "Sonny" Belmonte of Congressional District IV, and at present the City Mayor of Quezon City. Mrs. Betty Go Belmonte, before her untimely demise, was well admired civic -minded journalist by profession and vocation; and a well-respected educator-mentor of school children. But above all, she was God-loving and has a big heart for the poor and the needy.
